Monday.......again!

the smoke detectors almost went off :)

Davy playing ball-the boys in the hammock with aunt Camille

Monday rolls around all too often for me. Mondays are my work days. I really don't mind going to work, but I love coming home. The mornings are a little crazy, trying to get everyone dressed and fed before I have to leave. When we got home, I cleaned up the disaster of a house (it gets that way on busy weekends, combined with busy Monday mornings), and now I feel much happier, and relaxed. I love a clean house! Ryan is at his usual Monday night basketball game. We skipped FHE tonight because the boys fell asleep early while watching Star Wars (but I did hear Ryan explaining to the boys during the movie, about good and evil, and the importance of always doing what's right. That counts as FHE right?)
Yesterday we celebrated Ryan's Birthday at his mom's house. Upon Ryan's request I ordered a white cake with strawberry filling from Sam's Club. He doesn't like frosting, so I had them put strawberry filling on top too. It was pretty yummy. Birthdays are still kind of hard for me. Growing up, they weren't a huge deal. I only had two birthday parties my whole life, and only one of them were with people that I wanted to invite. Especially now that I'm SOO OLD, I have a hard time making a big deal for birthdays. I try to make my kids birthdays special for them without spoiling them. I always want them to be thankful for their blessings. Ryan's family is big into birthdays, no matter how old you are, you WILL have a party. It is nice, but for my birthday (although I've never gotten out of having a family party), I don't ever expect a fuss.......except from Ryan ! Ryan's Mom got him some fun outdoor games, that kept the kids, and him, busy for most of the night. Rick made his famous spaghetti, and we came home feeling way too full. It was a fun, and filling night. Ryan is now one year older, and as he would surely point out, one year wiser too.

I was eating a poptart today and Marae looked at me and said "those remind me of you and Liz". I replied "Yeah those were the days when she would break off the thin area of crust, make sure there was no filling in it, and give it to me". She got a fake sad look on a her face and as if she were about to cry said "at least she liked you enough to give you part of her poptart". That is when the flood of memories came in of you and me. Well mainly me following you around, you doing my hair, and you wearing my shirts when I was 8. Thanks again for all the poptart edges.

My family has never been big on birthdays either. So when I married into this family I didn't know what to think. My birthday falls on the opening days of the deer hunt and conference weekend, so my family is always out of town. Now that I'm an adult, I don't really want a party either. I'd like to have an offer of a babysitter so Bryce & I could leave town for a weekend instead.(not from anyone specific of course) I do enjoy Sundays though. It's nice to be able to spend a little time with you all.
And yes, I think the good and evil lesson during Star Wars counts for FHE. ;)

Elise-I NEVER WORE YOUR SHIRTS WHEN YOU WERE EIGHT........DID I???? Sorry that I didn't share my pop tarts better, and that you had to go everywhere with me. You weren't the best chaperon. You could easily be bought off with candy.

How cute the boys won the look-alike contest and got fishing poles! Awesome. Glad Ryan had a good bday. My family is pretty big on birthdays too - mostly my mom just likes HERS to be really grand - ha.

Let's take all the kids to the park tomorrow or Thurs..? Not sure what you have planned - but we will be hanging around the house the next few days (saving gas you know!). I'd like to go over and take some pics of Amy's baby this week. We went and saw her on Sunday - soo sweet and tiny.
