Danny is my dirty face boy
Today was a classic lazy, beautiful day. We called a couple of friends (Amy and Elizabeth) to meet us at the park. It was raining when we left but, we just couldn't spend the day inside. The grass was so green, and we wanted to savor the last few days of spring before it turns too hot to stand. It cleared up within a few minutes of getting to the park, and the kids had a blast playing on the playground, feeding the ducks anything they could find, riding bikes and scooters, and exploring the many trees in the park. There were 12 kids altogether (Elizabeth had 2 nieces and a nephew with her also). There were all ages of kids, but they all had a great time together. Before we came home I was able to get a little excise by running a few laps around the big park loop. The best part of the afternoon was realizing that I wasn't as week as I previously thought. Last Sunday I wrote a post about playing on the bars at the park, and how I couldn't even pull my self up and around on the bars. I tried it again today, and did it with ease several times. I guess my pants were just a little too tight on Sunday. After three hours at the park we begrudgingly packed up the bikes, scooters, and strollers, and headed back home. The boys were worn out, and took a good, long nap, while I made dinner. After I got the baby to sleep (which takes at least an hour these last couple of days), I took Davy and Danny on a night walk. We enjoyed seeing kids playing out in the street, and hearing the crickets chirp. I love spring. I often wish it could stay like this forever, but then would we really enjoy it as much. I guess we need the miserable cold winters, to make us realize the beauty of spring. It was an incredible, lazy, wonderful, ordinary, day.
