JOEY LOVED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE EXCITEMENT
The opening of the archery hunt was quite a disappointment for Ryan, but we all had a good time anyway. Ryan was pretty confident that he would get a big one this year because he had scouted some great deer in the area that he hunts. He set a tree camera to get pictures of the deer in the area, and had found some giant deer that he was excited to see. He came back after the opening morning quite frustrated with "stupid hunters" that trace through his spot where he is sitting in his tree stand at first light (right when the deer will be coming in). He said that 15 people came through his spot, and ruined any chance of seeing any deer. Rumor had been out that a giant deer was in that area and so there were many new "dumb hunters" looking for it. We decided that we would hold off till a few days after opening morning next year when most hunters had gone back to work for the week. After the disappointment of opening morning, he didn't even go back to he spot again the whole weekend. He scouted for some new areas, but will return later in the week for a shot at a less populated hunt in "his spot" (I guess after hunting it for 7 years it becomes "his spot"). The kids enjoyed getting VERY dirty, hunting for toads, bow and arrows, swinging on the rope swing, playing games, riding four wheelers, and eating too much junk. I enjoyed some free time and got lots of reading done. All of the boys did great, and we all had a good time. It was so nice to get home and give them all a bath. Danny had the dirties face the whole time we were there. I would wash it, and then he would come back a few minutes later with a dirtier face than before. That boy loves to play in the dirt! I'm not looking forward to cleaning out the trailer tomorrow, but it was sure nice to have it. My dad has his open heart surgury tomorrow to replace a valve. He went to Reno to have it done. We'll be praying for him that it all goes well.

We didn't see anything either! Blah. I bet he was mad. Especially after all that scouting.
Good luck to Dad!!
The picture of your kids sleeping is SO cute! Hope to see you more in the next couple weeks, sorry I've been such a poo and so tired all the time!
I haven't done archery since 7th grade PE. Loved it! :) Too bad the dumb hunters can't be assigned a territory where they can ruin it for each other, huh?
Been thinking about your dad...how did it go?
Davy looks like Davy Crocket in his coonskin hat! Bet it was fun!
Your dad is doing good.
