Better than Roses!

Ryan despises Valentines Day. He thinks it is such a dumb holiday. "It's just a marketing ploy to get you to buy a bunch of flowers, candy, and gifts for no reason" he says. I've never minded having a holiday that you go out of your way to let your loved ones know you love them. Sometimes with the business of life, you need a day set aside to do something out of the ordinary. I'm not a fan of Roses on Valentines day (they are too expected), Ryan however spoiled me this year with out even knowing it. Our microwave quit working a few days ago, so he went out and bought me a nicer silver model and installed it right away (you don't realize how handy a microwave is until you don't have one). I told him that that was a great valentines day present. It cost as much as a nice piece of jewelry, but it is much more useful. He has also been so good at getting the bathrooms finished. I thought that they would be half finished for a few years before everything was done, but he has been so good to get the baseboards and toe kicks put on right away. It is so nice to have a clean new bathroom-even if they are tiny. I may start spending a lot more time in there. There are a few more things that need to be done (new mirrors with a dark wood frame to match the vanities, dark wood decorative pieces mounted under the towel racks, and new towel bars put up in our bathroom). It all turned out very nice, and Ryan did it all himself. He is very talented in all that he attempts. I am forever grateful for all of the hard work he put in to get them done. The many trips to home depot, lowes, cal-ranch, hours in his shop making the vanities, his sore knees and back from laying tile, it is all greatly appreciated. It was a great valentines day present-much better than roses and chocolates (although I'll hint towards some chocolates)!
