Baby Brother

"Baby Brother" came home today (7lb 15 oz and 20 inches long) . He is such a good baby so far, and we are so glad to have him home. He is a good eater, and a good sleeper (and we hope he stays that way). I checked into the hospital at 7:00 a.m. to be induced since my doctor was leaving town today we wanted to make sure he was here when the baby arived. We spent the first 10 hours of the day listening to a very annoying beeping of machines saying that the patosin had a blockage but none of the nurses could figure out where, they could only see that it wasn't draining into the lines. At about 5:00 that night they realized that it wasn't getting into my veins because the needle wasn't in right. After switching the I.V. to the other hand the baby's heart rate dropped so the nurse just decided to turn the pitosin off. I eventually had the baby at 10:30 that night. I am recovering well besides the fun after birth pains, and an extremely soar back (from the anesthesiologist prying around in my spine in 6 different spots before getting the epidural in) The pain was so intense that I was to the point of just calling off the epidural knowing that the birth couldn't hurt anymore than the digging around in my spine to try to get the needle in the right spot). Once he got it in he said he put it in a little weird since that was the only way he could find a spot to put it. My left leg became instantly numb to the point that I couldn't even wiggle my toes at all for about 5 hours. The anesthesiologist came in about every 20 minutes 'till I could wiggle a toe to check on it (I think he thought it was paralyzed or something). The rest of my body was only slightly numb by the time the baby came so I could feel everything very well (not that I wanted to). Although the Labor part of the birth wasn't the most enjoyable, the nurses were great and attentive during the recovery stay. We have been calling the baby Jacob, but have been tossing a few other names around as well. The boys all love him, and Joey thinks he needs to hold his baby brother at all times, and Danny just wants to snuggle with me even though he is still a little sick from having the flu. Ryan is now not feeling well, and we are just hoping to keep everyone else healthy. We feel blessed to have such a healthy, and perfect baby. Ryan's Mom was a life saver in keeping the boys while we were in the hospital, and then bringing over dinner tonight for our first night home. She is wonderful, and we feel so blessed to have such great and willing people in our lives. I forgot how much work a new baby is, and how painful the recovery can be but we are sure happy to have him, and know that things will start to get easier very soon. I don't know how my mom had 10 kids!

Hooray! I can't believe that took them 10 hours to figure out!!! HELLO! And I hope the epidural was worth it after that lousy attempt at getting you hooked up.

You didn't say how big the little guy is, so you'll have to put that info up with more pictures. :) Good luck to you and all those boys.

He's adorable! I hope you feel better soon. Sorry you had problems. It sounds a lot like when I had Kaja. It was miserable and I swore I'd never do it again! ((hugs))

Congrats - what a sweet little man! Oh geez, that's too bad about the iv and epi problems. Ouchy. I definitely think getting an iv, epi, catheter, and having to lay in bed is more painful than natural birth! Sounds like you felt BOTH. Not fair at all. Get rested up and hopefully lots of people will bring you food and treats. Be healthy Jensen fam! Wish I could come hold that baby. I do love the name Jacob! Good job mama, you did it AGAIN.
