We are done canning for the year!



I am so glad to be done canning for the year. We were so lucky to get some great produce for free, and all of the bottles that we used were given to us also, so we couldn't pass up the opportunity to can it all. Ryan's mom let me use her steam canner, which is the best thing I've ever used, and Ryan's grandma lent me her pressure cooker for the beans, and meat that we did. We canned pear sauce, peach sauce, apple sauce, several kinds of jams, salsa, peaches, apples, beans, tomatoes, and a little bit of meat. My kids loved helping with the apple peeler/corer and with apple saucer (thanks mom for hooking us up with those great tools). We recently finished the canning year by making some great apple sauce in many varieties. We all loved the apple/strawberry sauce, and the apple/peach sauce the best.

I am so impressed! It gives you such great satisfaction being able to look at all of the jars of beautiful food and you made it all happen! Great job.

I am so glad you liked your in-laws family room. It was fun to hear that Ryan's dad really liked it too. It always looks better in real life than it does in photos. I also liked how it turned out!

Nummy! I'm so impressed with your canning extravaganza this year! No wonder you are kind of burned out. Talk about food storage!
