Last week I heard about a 10 mile race being held in Provo along the Provo River. It sounded like a pretty run, so I decided I'd do it. I had never run more than 5 miles when I decided to sign up, but decided to do it anyway. I talked a friend into running it with me, and hurried and paid the registration fee so that I couldn't back out. I knew it was too late to train for it since it was just days away so I did a 6.3 mile run a few days before and decided I'd just do my best. It was a lot of fun, I'm glad I did it, but now I know that I never will do a marathon, or even a half marathon. The run was good 'till I hit 7 miles and my calves tightened up so much that I could hardly run. I made it to 8 miles and had to walk/run for half a little bit, then I ran the last mile in major pain. My goal was to do it in 1:30 and ended up finishing in 1:27 so I was ok with that. It was a fun experience, but I think I'll stick to the 5 and 10K's at least 'till I get a chance to train for longer runs.
