My first unofficial 5k

I am very far behind in my blogging because my computer is hiding where I download my pics. so I can't get them posted. I'll figure that out soon I hope. I have lots of pictures to share of our trip to Moab. Ryan and I hiked all of the arches in Arches National park. We left the kids home. It was a nice getaway. The next weekend we hike the Y with all three kids. They loved it. I'd love to speed hike it with another sometime. It was a good bumb workout. Ryan went bear hunting for the past week in Idaho, and got home late last night. Yes, he shot himself a bear. I am just dying to have a bear skin rug hanging somewhere in our house (not really). Since he was gone all week I didn't get to run since I didn't have anyone to watch the kids. There was a 5k here in Spanish this morning that I had wanted to run but didn't think I would do well considering I hadn't run all week. It was pouring rain last night when I went to bed so I planned on skipping it, and telling myself I will accomplish that goal another day. When Joey woke me up at 6:00 this morning, I figured I'd just go run it since I'd be going running this morning anyway. I didn't register, but just thought I'd run for fun to see if I'd come in last. My main goal was to run it without stopping. I was presently surprised to make it the whole way (hills and all) in under 22 min. I didn't push myself to run fast because my main goal was to run the whole thing. I didn't even realize that I was at the end 'till I came around the corner to the finish line. It wasn't bad at all! I am excited for the next one. Now that I now I can run it easily I can push myself to run faster next time. I'm glad that I completed that goal I had set! I just have to say YEAH ME!!!

Awesome! And to do it after a week of not running is great! Give us a holler next time Ryan's out and about and we can have your boys come play (or Becca go play with them) a night or two for you. Not that I'm worried about you getting out of shape, but if I'm not exercising I might as well help someone else do it, right? ;) Good job!

Good for you. I was reading this last post thinking how jealous I am that you can run...and then I got this great idea: maybe we could do a triathalon sometime! I'm a pretty mad biker/spinner because of my knee, you could do the running portion, and then maybe sheila, or some other friend could do the swimming part. I actually really enjoy swimming too, and actually, come to think of it, you probably do to, so maybe we could do that leg together. Anyway, I trained for triathalons in college with my friends and we were going to split up the legs the same way.

Anyway, just a thought...and sorry about this weekend. The house just seems to gobble everything else up (including our anniversary which is tomorrow). I really shouldn't be a brat though, we're very grateful for what we have and life is wonderful.

I look forward to pictures!
